about

'GRAVITATIONAL WAVES' by JAVI CANOVAS. 'Solar Dome' begins with organ and electronic tonalities for almost 2 minutes then a deep and fast paced sequencing builds up in layers and accelerates with added oomph, and effects are coming thick and fast. Absolutely fantastic stuff! This reminds me of Jarre's 'Arpeggiator' and I absolutely love what I am hearing. It is as if I am being chased by the Sun then pushed along by it's rays at the speed of light! All manner of effects and rhythms are bouncing around my head. Eventually it disappears into atmospherics that sigh and ebb like the tide is going out on a faraway beach. Amazing track! The strangely titled 'Elephant Trunks In Space' starts with dark noises and accoustically sounding like from within a cave then a rhythm starts up rather menacingly building with effects as if on a mission. More effects come and a sequence is added. This gives me as much joy as TD's 'Logos' and sequences layer over and over each other, and a flute is added sublimely. The menacing rhythm disappears and atmos' takes over giving an air of peace and traquillity as if of a sunset on an alien world. Wow! 'Dispersion' starts with underwater burbling sounds and effects. Synth lines and flute come along as the burbling disappears. Sequences start interweaving a kind of helix creating arpeggios and flute together, This reminds me of 'Pinnacles' by Edgar Froese. I think that Javi uses the flute alongside electronics as wonderfully as Edgar could have done. I am being taken into cosmic bliss! Eventually we drift away on pads of peace as the sequences disperse into oblivion. This EP of 28 minutes is as good as anything that I have heard from Javi and is immediately my favourite CD. Now to press 'play' again!
