EIGENSPACES by JAVI CANOVAS. 'Living In The Emptiness' starts with very powerful and atmospheric soundscapes then a sequence and shimmering noises are added to great effect. It is as if you are in a hall of sonic mirrors, it subsides then strange vibrating noises are heard building louder and a fast paced sequence hurtles forward and effects are added. My imagination is running away with me, it is all very rhythmic. A lead line joins and this is excellent body moving music! This wonderful piece fades out after just under 11 minutes. 'Where Was The Time?' sounds as if a huge powerplant is starting up, with effects, like in huge chambers, echoing, and synth noises and drone sounds vibrating, then a sequence kicks in and what a good one it is too! Atmospheric sounds join in and a second sequence, heavy rumbling effects add even more power then more lead lines are added, phew! It all breaks down again and new effects replace previous ones and a catchy rhythm starts up then the music fades out with strange squeaky type effects. This was an excellent track. 'Lost Sign' starts with sequencing then atmos' sounds, a rhythm chugs along nicely with effects, then a second sequence is added and a lead line joins in. It doesn't really develop that much but it didn't need to as it was well constructed. 'Blue T' starts with a building wave of sound and funky synth-bass and Kraftwerk-like rhythm and it sounds like the most cool piece of music so far, brilliant stuff! A flute plays along and effects come and go, another sequence is heard. The heady brew subsides as atmospheric sounds bring the piece to an end. I loved this very much! 'Vector' has powerful ambient sounds and a slowly played lead line, quite restrained. A piano plays a brilliantly reflective tune. This was a beautiful melancholic piece touching my heart. A rather nice change from Javi. 'Forgotten Future' builds with a heavy resonating and morphing drone then a sequence bounces along and takes over with a choppy drum sound, along with a rhythm and a great lead line is introduced to this interesting piece, eventually fading into silence. Nice one! 'Parallel World' has heavy atmospheric noises like you are in a huge spaceship, and echoing effects like being inside huge chambers, then a sequence hurtles forward and an underlying deeper one beneath. Sound effects come and go and I am loving this! Another sequence grows louder in the mix and a fantastic lead line plays over the top. Wow! It builds even further to a zenith of epic proportions with some great playing from Javi. It eventually fades out and I am left in awe of this track! 'Interposition' starts with a Kraftwerk-like beat and effects and a great lead line playing over the top. Effects join in and more are heard. I am now in full flow playing 'air-keyboard' to this amazing melodic piece. What a way to end this fantastic album! Review by Geoff Mason.
A majestic yet delicate album from Berlin school-style synth masters Node, recorded in 1994 but unreleased until now. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2023
Hushed and lovely electronic music from this Washington musician with a stateliness that borders on classical composition. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 22, 2020
Tangerine explores the outer edges of electronic music, writing songs that hum and throb, full of eerie, staticky textures. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 10, 2022
I think Cosmic Ground is a exciting band. Old fashioned and with nice vibes and rhytms. But I miss something. Many compare with TD. Maybe, but I lack the crescendo at the end of the songs. It becomes boring when the end lacks a Froeselike guitarsolo. Something is missing, the crescendo is missing, the songs just exit out with no proper end explosion. Roger Adler
