about

'BEHIND THE SHADOWS' by JAVI CANOVAS. 'Long Way To The Dale' starts an ambient soundscape like a sunrise in a desert. It is an empty expansive feeling where very long shadows are forming out of the dakness. It seems like an icy baron place to be! 'Frost Remains' has ambient organ sounds as if there is a small chink of light in the dark. My imagination of what I am listening to is possibly the only glimmer of light in this aural bliss! 'Inertness' immediately has a different feeling, with deep rumbling of synth noises with gentle effects and metallic tonal chimes that sound reflective and emotional as if lost and unable to find the light. I quite enjoyed this one, if that makes sense. 'Density Waves' starts with waves of dense atmospheric washes giving a feeling of space, then more ambient synth drones give it more depth of sound. I imagine going on a deep ocean exploration with Jacques Cousteau! 'Behind The Shadows' starts eerily like I am in a cave. There is a huge organ sound and a wind-rush sound like hundreds of bats that are startled and are escaping the depths of dark shadows. Spooky! 'Monolite' is resonating metallics and powerful organ, and I imagine huge monolithic columns reaching for the light hundreds of feet into the dark skies crying for there to be light in the dark. This is on the edge of foreboding darkness forever. Ambient this may be, but powerful. 'The Beginning Of The End' has metallic and wind-tones filling the air, but at the same time it feels like drifting into the depths of the Earth. Ambient sounds take turns to breathe the dense atmos'. Timelessness surrounds me. 'Still Falling' has organ sounds and atmospherics that do actually make you feel like you have jumped off a mile high monolithic tower and you are in freefall but neverending without Earth to catch your fall. Is this a good thing? Maybe not, is there no end? There is enough heavy atmosphere to fill Jupiter! 'Walking To The Red Mountain' starts with synth ambient sounds and organic effect. The title of this inspires you to imagine being on a journey, wanting to emotionally move on, but you're not ready yet. 'Nocturn' has deep accordian sounds resonating as if in complete darkness behind shadows in a deep cave where only bats and creatures of the dark realm belong. Huge deep organ sounds come forth one after the other with accompanying ambient textures, powerful yet calm! 'Isolated World' sounds like organ and accordian breathing that conjures feeling of being alone in a huge world full of chambers, isolated. 'Retrospective' is warmer sounding synth ambience. Now we know what lies behind the shadows! The dawn of the Sun is on the horizon and you can feel the new beginnings while looking toward a new future. This is deep and powerful ambient music that is ideal to kick back and relax with at the end of a hard and busy day at work. An excellent ambient album from Javi!
